Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:380

Yazid narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn al-Muntasir, from his father, that Khalid ibn Asad sent thirty thousand [dirhams] to Masruq. He returned them. So he [Khalid] said to him, "If you had taken them and given them in charity and maintained ties of kinship with them [it would have been better]." But he refused to take them.
