Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:594

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Waki’ narrated to us, from ‘Ali ibn Salih, from ‘Abd al-A’la, from Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, from ‘Ali, who said: "The loaned item (al-‘ariyyah) is neither a sale nor is it guaranteed (daman), it is only a favor (ma’ruf). Except if he violates [the terms of the loan], then he becomes liable."
