Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from Shurahbil ibn Muslim al-Khawlani, he said: I heard Abu Umamah al-Bahili say: I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say during the Farewell Pilgrimage: "The borrowed item must be returned, the debt must be paid, and the guarantor is liable," meaning the surety.
