Hadith 13:871

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu’awiyah narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Shaqiq, from Abdullah, who said: "Whoever swears an oath while he is wicked in it, in order to seize by it the wealth of a Muslim man, he will meet Allah while He is angry with him." Al-Ash’ath said: "Regarding me, by Allah, it was revealed. There was a piece of land between me and a man from the Jews, and he denied my right to it. So I brought him before the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to me: 'Do you have evidence?' I said: 'No.' He said to the Jew: 'Swear.' I said: 'Then he will swear and take my wealth.' So Allah revealed: 'Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price, those will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment.'"
