Hadith 13:910

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Kulayb ibn Wa'il, who said: I said to Ibn Umar: A *dihqan* (landowner/official) with a large land tax came to me and said: "Accept me [as a client/protege] from the governor, so that I do not have to accept him [the governor] to give him anything, except that his governor secures him and handles his needs." I did not wait long until he came to me with my documents. I said: "May Allah reward you with good," and he provided me with a mount, gave me a dirham, and clothed me. He [Ibn Umar] said: "Do you see, if you had not accepted him, would he have given you [these things]?" I said: "No." He said: "It is not lawful for you."
