Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 13:911

Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, from Hisham, from al-Hasan, who said: A *dihqan* (landowner/official) from the *dihqans* of the Sawad of Kufa came to Abdullah bin Ja'far to seek his help regarding something concerning Ali. So he spoke to Ali on his behalf, and he fulfilled his need for him. He said: The *dihqan* sent him forty thousand [dirhams] and something else with it—I do not know what it was. When it was placed before Abdullah bin Ja'far, he said: "What is this?" It was said to him: "The *dihqan* for whom you spoke to the Commander of the Faithful regarding his need sent it." He said: "Return it to him, for we are a household that does not sell kindness."
