Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Hushaym narrated to us, from Ya'la ibn 'Ata, from Isma'il ibn [Jastas], from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, who said: He decreed regarding a hunting dog [a penalty of] forty dirhams, and regarding a livestock dog [a penalty of] a sheep from the flock, and regarding a farming dog [a penalty of] a *faraq* of food, and regarding a house dog [a penalty of] a *faraq* of dust. It is a duty upon the one who caused it [the harm] to give it, and it is a duty upon the owner of the house to accept it.
