Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Malik ibn al-Harith, who said: It was among the supplications of 'Ammar: "O Allah, I ask You by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over the creation, that You grant me life as long as You know life is better for me, and cause me to die when You know death is better for me. O Allah, I ask You for Your fear in the unseen and the witnessed, and I ask You for moderation in wealth and poverty, and I ask You for justice in contentment and anger. O Allah, make the meeting with You beloved to me, and [grant me] longing for You, without a misleading trial or a harmful affliction."
