Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 21:236

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, from al-Jurayri, from Abdullah, from Abu al-Ward ibn Thumamah, from al-Lajlaj, from Mu’adh, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by a man while he was saying, "O Allah, I ask You for patience." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "You have asked Allah for tribulation, so ask Him for well-being." He passed by a man while he was saying, "O Allah, I ask You for the completion of the blessing." He said, "O son of Adam, do you know what the completion of the blessing is?" He said, "O Messenger of Allah, it is a supplication I made, hoping for good." He said, "Indeed, from the completion of the blessing is entering Paradise and salvation from the Fire." He passed by a man while he was saying, "O Possessor of Majesty and Honor." He said, "It has been answered for you, so ask."
