Abu Usama narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik ibn Maysara, from Ibn Sabit, that a caller called out during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Allah, I ask You by Your name, there is no god but You, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, and when You intend a matter, You only say to it 'Be' and it is." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "You have nearly—or he has nearly—called upon [Allah] by His Great, Greatest Name."
