Hadith 21:379

Waki' narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from 'Abdullah ibn Salamah, from 'Ali, who said: I fell ill, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) entered upon me, and he heard me saying: "O Allah, if my appointed time has arrived, then have mercy on me; and if it is delayed, then heal me and grant me well-being; and if it is a trial, then grant me patience." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "What did you say?" So I repeated it to him. He wiped me with his hand and said: "O Allah, heal him or grant him well-being." And I did not complain of that pain after that.

حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن عمرو بن مرة عن عبد الله بن سلمة عن علي قال اشتكيت فدخل علي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فسمعني أقول اللهم إن كان أجلي قد حضر فارحمني وإن كان متأخرا فاشفني وعافني وإن كان بلاء فصبرني فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كيف قلت قال فقلت له فمسحني بيده وقال اللهم اشفه أو عافه فما اشتكيت ذلك الوجع بعد
