Hadith 21:386
Abu Bakr narrated to us, Abdullah bin Numayr narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, from Hakim bin Hakim, from Ali bin Abd al-Rahman, from Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) went out to the Harrah of Banu Mu'awiyah, and I followed his footsteps until he appeared upon it. He prayed the Duha prayer, eight rak'ahs, in which he prolonged [the recitation], then he turned away and said: "O Hudhayfah, I have prolonged [the prayer] for you." I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "I asked Allah for three things in them; He granted me two and withheld one from me. I asked Him that He not let an enemy from other than them overcome my Ummah, and He granted it to me. I asked Him that He not let them be destroyed by famine, and He granted it to me. And I asked Him that He not make their might [the cause of] their fighting among themselves, but He withheld it from me."
