Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 21:44

Ibn ‘Uyaynah narrated to us, from Dawud, from al-Sha’bi, who said: ‘A’ishah said to Ibn Abi al-Sa’ib, the storyteller of the people of Makkah: “Avoid rhymed prose (saj’) in supplication, for I witnessed the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and his companions, and they did not do that.”
