Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 21:500

Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Zakariya ibn Abi Za'idah, from Mus'ab, from Yahya ibn Ja'dah, who said: Khalid ibn al-Walid used to be terrified at night until he would go out with his sword. It was feared that he might strike someone, so he complained about that to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He said: "Indeed, Gabriel said to me: 'An 'ifrit (a powerful demon) from the jinn is plotting against you. So say: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah, which neither the righteous nor the wicked can surpass, from the evil of what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein, and from the evil of what He has created in the earth and what emerges from it, and from the evil of the trials of the night and the day, and from the evil of every visitor, except a visitor who comes with good, O Most Merciful.'" So Khalid said them, and that [affliction] left him.
