Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 21:611

Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Maysarah, who said: Ibn Mas’ud and ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr met. Ibn Mas’ud said: "For me to say, when I depart after fulfilling my need: 'Subhan Allah, wal-hamdu lillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar' (Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest), is more beloved to me than to mount their number in thoroughbred horses in the path of Allah." And ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr said: "For me to say them is more beloved to me than to spend their number in dinars in the path of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic."
