Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz ibn Umar narrated to us, he said: Someone whom I do not accuse, from the people of al-Sham, narrated to me, from Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saw the crescent moon, he would say: "Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Praise be to Allah. There is no power and no strength except by Allah. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this month, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of destiny, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of the Day of Gathering."
