Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 21:629

Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, that the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when he saw the new moon, he would say: "A new moon of goodness and guidance, a new moon of guidance and goodness, a new moon of goodness and guidance. I believe in the One who created you," (three times). "Praise be to Allah who caused such-and-such a new moon to pass, and brought such-and-such a new moon."
