Dhu ‘Amr said to Jarir: "O Jarir, you have honor with me, and I will inform you of a piece of news: You, the company of the Arabs, will not cease to be in goodness as long as, when a leader of yours perishes, you appoint another in his place. But when it becomes a matter of the sword, you will become angry with the anger of kings, and you will be pleased with the pleasure of kings."
