Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 37:192

Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Mughira ibn al-Nu’man, from ‘Abdullah ibn al-Aqna’ al-Bahili, from al-Ahnaf ibn Qays, who said: I was sitting in the mosque of Medina when a man approached. You would not see a circle [of people] except that they fled from him, until he reached the circle I was in. I remained firm while they fled. I said, "Who are you?" He said, "Abu Dharr, the companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him." I said, "Why do the people flee from you?" He said, "I forbid them from [hoarding] treasures." I said, "Our stipends have reached [a high amount] and increased, so do you fear for us because of them?" He said, "As for today, no. But they are about to become the price of your religion. So when they become the price of your religion, leave them to them."
