Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 37:193

Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Juhhaf narrated to me, he said: Mu'awiyah ibn Tha'labah informed me, he said: I came to Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah and said: "Indeed, the messenger of al-Mukhtar has come to us, calling us [to his cause]." He said: So he said to me: "I dislike to bring evil upon this Ummah and approach it from other than its proper way."
