Ghundar narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, who said: I heard Abu Wa'il narrating from al-Harith ibn Hanash al-Asadi, who said: Sa'id ibn al-'As sent me with gifts to the people of Medina, and he favored 'Ali. He said: And he said to me, "Say to him: Your nephew sends you greetings and says, 'I have not sent more to anyone than I have sent to you, except for what was in the treasuries of the Commander of the Faithful.'" 'Ali said: "The thing that saddens me most is the inheritance of Muhammad. By Allah, if I were to possess it, I would shake it off as the leather water-skin shakes off the dust."
