Hadith 37:218
Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Hisham narrated to us, from his father, who said: I and Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr entered upon Asma ten nights before the killing of Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, and Asma was in pain. Abdullah said to her, "How do you find yourself?" She said, "In pain." He said, "Indeed, there is relief in death." She said, "Perhaps you desire my death, and that is why you wish for it? By Allah, I do not desire that you die until one of two outcomes comes to pass for you: either you are killed and I seek reward [from Allah] for you, or you are victorious and my eyes are cooled. So beware of being offered a plan that does not suit you, and then accepting it out of hatred for death." And he [Ibn al-Zubayr] only meant that he would be killed, so she would be saddened by that.
