Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 37:321

Mu'tamir ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar informed us, from Ishaq ibn Rashid, from 'Amr ibn Wabisa al-Asadi, from his father, who said: I was in Kufa, in my house, when I heard at the door of the house: "Peace be upon you, may I enter?" I said: "And upon you be peace, so enter." And behold, it was 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud. I said: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, what an hour for a visit!" And that was at the peak of midday. He said: "The day became long for me, so I remembered someone I could converse with." He began to speak to me about the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and I spoke to him. 'Abdullah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: "There will be a tribulation in which the one who is sleeping is better than the one who is lying down, and the one who is lying down is better than the one who is sitting, and the one who is sitting is better than the one who is standing, and the one who is standing is better than the one who is walking, and the one who is walking is better than the one who is running. Those killed in it are all in the Fire." I said: "And when will that be, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "That is the days of *al-harj* (slaughter/chaos)." I said: "And when are the days of *al-harj*?" He said: "When a man does not feel secure with his companion." I said: "What do you command me to do if I reach that?" He said: "Enter your house." I said: "What if he enters upon me?" He said: "Then enter your private chamber." I said: "What if he enters upon me?" He said: "Say thus, and say: 'I return with my sin and your sin,' and be the servant of Allah who is killed."
