Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 37:324

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Shaqiq, from Shurayh, who said: "I have neither informed nor sought information since the tribulation (fitna) began." Masruq said to him: "If I were like you, it would please me to have died." Shurayh said: "And how about more than that? What is in the chests, and the two groups meet, while one of them is more beloved to me than the other."
