Hadith 37:34
Waki’ narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Habib, from Maymun ibn Abi Shabib, who said: It was said to Hudhayfah: "Did the Children of Israel disbelieve in a single day?" He said: "No, but the trial would be presented to them, so they would commit it, and they would be compelled to do so. Then it would be presented to them again, and they would commit it, until they were struck for it with whips and swords. Until they waded into the water, to the point that they did not recognize a good deed as good, nor did they denounce a reprehensible deed as reprehensible."
حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن حبيب عن ميمون بن أبي شبيب قال قيل لحذيفة أكفرت بنو إسرائيل في يوم واحد قال لا ولكن كانت تعرض عليهم الفتنة فيأتونها فيكرهون عليها ثم تعرض عليهم فيأتونها حتى ضربوا عليها بالسياط والسيوف حتى خاضوا الماء حتى لم يعرفوا معروفا ولم ينكروا منكرا
