Hadith 37:41
Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Hisham, from al-Hasan, who said: Muhammad ibn Maslamah said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) gave me a sword and said: "Fight the polytheists with it as long as they are being fought. But if you see the people striking one another—or a word similar to that—then take it to a rock and strike it against it until it breaks. Then sit in your house until a sinful hand or a decisive death comes to you."
حدثنا عبد الله بن المبارك عن هشام عن الحسن قال قال محمد بن سلمة أعطاني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم سيفا فقال قاتل به المشركين ما قوتلوا فإذا رأيت الناس يضرب بعضهم بعضا أو كلمة نحوها فاعمد به إلى صخرة فاضربه بها حتى ينكسر ثم اقعد في بيتك حتى تأتيك يد خاطئة أو منية قاضية
