Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Al-Awwam ibn Hawshab informed us, he said: Jabala ibn Suhaym narrated to me, from Mu'athir ibn 'Afara, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who said: When the night of the Isra' (Night Journey) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) occurred, he met Ibrahim, Musa, and Isa. They discussed the Hour. They began with Ibrahim and asked him about it, but he had no knowledge of it. Then they asked Musa, and he had no knowledge of it. They referred the discussion to Isa, who said: "Allah made a covenant with me regarding what is before its occurrence, but as for its occurrence, no one knows it except Allah." He then mentioned the emergence of the Dajjal. He said: "I will descend and kill him. Then the people will return to their lands, and they will be met by Gog and Magog, who will descend from every elevated place. They will not pass by any water except that they drink it, and they will not pass by anything except that they corrupt it. They will come to me, and I will supplicate to Allah, so He will send down rain from the sky, which will carry their bodies and cast them into the sea. Then the mountains will be leveled, and the earth will be stretched out like the stretching of leather." He said: "Then it was covenanted to me that when that happens, the Hour will be to the people like a pregnant woman at full term; her family does not know when she will surprise them with her delivery." Al-Awwam said: I found the confirmation of that in the Book of Allah: "Until when Gog and Magog are let loose, and they descend from every elevated place, and the true promise draws near."
