Ya'la ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from Hakim ibn Jabir, who said: When 'Uthman was besieged, 'Ali came to Talha while he was leaning on pillows in his house. He said, "I adjure you by Allah, what has turned you away from the Commander of the Faithful? For he is going to be killed." Talha said, "No, by Allah, not until the Banu Umayya give what is due from themselves."
