Hadith 37:6
Abu Usama narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn al-Mughira, who said: Humayd said: Nasr ibn Asim al-Laythi narrated to us, saying: I heard Hudhayfah say: The people used to ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the good, and I used to ask him about the evil, for I knew that the good would not outstrip me. He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there any evil after this good?" He said, "O Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it," (repeating it) three times. He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there any good after this evil?" He said, "O Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it," (repeating it) three times. He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there any evil after this good?" He said, "A blind, deaf tribulation, upon which are callers at the gates of Hell. For you to die, O Hudhayfah, while biting onto a tree root is better than for you to follow any one of them."
حدثنا أبو أسامة عن سليمان بن المغيرة قال قال حميد حدثنا نصر بن عاصم الليثي قال سمعت حذيفة يقول كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يسأله الناس عن الخير وكنت أسأله عن الشر وعرفت أن الخير لن يسبقني قال قلت يا رسول الله هل بعد هذا الخير من شر قال يا حذيفة تعلم كتاب الله واتبع ما فيه ثلاثا قال قلت يا رسول الله هل بعد هذا الشر خير قال يا حذيفة تعلم كتاب الله واتبع ما فيه ثلاث مرار قال قلت يا رسول الله هل بعد هذا الخير شر قال فتنة عمياء صماء عليها دعاة على أبواب النار فإن تموت يا حذيفة وأنت عاض على جذل خير من أن تتبع أحدا منهم
