Hadith 37:84
Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Al-A’mash narrated to us, from Al-Musayyab ibn Rafi’, from Bashir ibn ‘Amr, who said: We accompanied Ibn Mas’ud when he went out, and he stopped on the road to Al-Qadisiyyah. He entered a garden and relieved himself, then he performed ablution and wiped over his socks. Then he came out, and water was dripping from his beard. We said to him: "Give us a final instruction, for the people have fallen into tribulations, and we do not know if we will meet you or not." He said: "Fear Allah and be patient until a righteous person finds rest or one is rested from a wicked person. And you must stick to the community (al-jama’ah), for Allah will not gather the nation of Muhammad upon misguidance."
حدثنا أبو أسامة قال حدثنا الأعمش عن المسيب بن رافع عن بشير بن عمرو قال شيعنا بن مسعود حين خرج فنزل في طريق القادسية فدخل بستانا فقضى الحاجة ثم توضأ ومسح على جوربيه ثم خرج وإن لحيته ليقطر منها الماء فقلنا له أعهد إلينا فإن الناس قد وقعوا في الفتن ولا ندري هل نلقاك أم لا قال اتقوا الله واصبروا حتى يستريح بر أو يستراح من فاجر وعليكم بالجماعة فإن الله لا يجمع أمة محمد على ضلالة
