Hadith 37:89
Affan and Aswad ibn Amir narrated to us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Abu Uthman, from Khalid ibn Arfatah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "O Khalid, there will be events and disagreement"—and Affan said: "and division"—"so if that happens, then if you are able to be the one killed, not the one killing,"—Affan said—"then do so."
حدثنا عفان وأسود بن عامر قالا أخبرنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن أبي عثمان عن خالد بن عرفطة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال يا خالد إنها ستكون أحداث واختلاف وقال عفان وفرقة فإذا كان ذلك فإن استطعت أن تكون المقتول لا القاتل قال عفان فافعل
