Hadith 37:90
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Thabit ibn Zayd, from Abu Burdah, who said: I entered upon Muhammad ibn Maslamah and said to him: "May Allah have mercy on you, you are in a position regarding this matter, so if you were to go out to the people and command and forbid [them]..." He said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'There will be a tribulation, a schism, and a disagreement. When that happens, bring your sword to Uhud and strike it until it breaks, then sit in your house until a sinful hand or a decisive death comes to you.' And it has indeed occurred, and I have done what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told me to do."
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال أخبرنا حماد بن سلمة عن ثابت بن زيد عن أبي بردة قال دخلت على محمد بن مسلمة فقلت له رحمك الله إنك من هذا الأمر بمكان فلو خرجت إلى الناس فأمرت ونهيت فقال إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال إنها ستكون فتنة وفرقة واختلاف فإذا كان ذلك فأت بسيفك أحدا فاضربه حتى تقطعه ثم اجلس في بيتك حتى تأتيك يد خاطئة أو منية قاضية فقد وقعت وفعلت ما قال لي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم
