Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 22:218

Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Al-A’mash narrated to us, from Habib, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: ‘Umar delivered a sermon to us and said: “’Ali is the best of us in judgment, and Ubayy is the best of us in recitation. Yet, we leave out some of what Ubayy recites, even though Ubayy says: ‘I heard it from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace),’ and I would not leave out anything from the speech of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).” And a Book was revealed after Ubayy.
