Waki’ narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Awn, who said: They mentioned in the presence of al-Sha’bi the saying [of Allah]: "And a witness from the Children of Israel testified." It was said: "It is ‘Abdullah ibn Salam." He [al-Sha’bi] said: "How could it be Ibn Salam, when this Surah is Meccan?"
