Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 22:27

Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Malik ibn Mighwal, from Ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, the Ash'ari has been given a flute from the flutes of the family of David."
