Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 22:288

Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Al-A’mash narrated to us, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja’d, from Ziyad ibn Labid, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) mentioned something and said: "And that is at the time of the departure of knowledge." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, how will knowledge depart while we recite the Quran and teach it to our children, and our children teach it to their children until the Day of Resurrection?" He said: "May your mother be bereaved of you, Ziyad! I used to consider you among the most learned men in Medina. Are these not the Jews and the Christians who recite the Torah and the Gospel, yet they do not act upon anything of what is in them?"
