Hadith 27:116

Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Abd al-Malik informed us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: I went out with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) on a journey. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) would not go to relieve himself until he was hidden so that he could not be seen. We descended in a desolate land that had no tree and no landmark. He said: "O Jabir, go to these two trees and say to them: 'The Messenger of Allah says to you: Join your companion,' so that I may sit behind you both." I went to them, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sat behind them, then they returned to their places. We rode, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was among us as if birds were upon our heads shading us. A woman appeared to us with a child of hers, and she said: "O Messenger of Allah, this son of mine is seized by the devil every day many times." He stopped for her, then took the child and placed him between himself and the front of the saddle. Then he said: "Be gone, enemy of Allah! I am the Messenger of Allah," three times. Then he handed him back to her. When we finished our journey, we passed by that same place, and the woman appeared to us with her child, and with her were two rams she was driving. She said: "O Messenger of Allah, accept my gift from me, for by the One who sent you with the truth, it (the devil) has not returned to him since." He said: "Take one of them from her and return the other to her." He said: Then we traveled, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was among us as if birds were upon our heads shading us. Suddenly, a camel came running until it was between the two rows, then it fell down prostrating. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sat down, then said: "Bring the people to me; who is the owner of this camel?" Some youths from the Ansar came and said: "It is ours, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "What is its matter?" They said: "We have used it for irrigation for twenty years, and it has become fat, so we wanted to slaughter it and divide it among our servants, but it escaped from us." He said: "Will you sell it?" They said: "No, rather it is yours, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "If you will not, then treat it well until its appointed time comes to it."
