Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 27:181

Muhammad ibn Abi Ubaydah ibn Ma'n narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, who said: Ibrahim the Prophet, peace be upon him, went out to procure provisions, but he could not find any food. He passed by a red sandy plain and took from it, then returned to his family. They said: "What is this?" He said: "Red wheat." He said: So they opened it and found it to be red wheat. He said: Whenever he would plant any of it, its stalk would grow from its base to its tip as layered grains.
