Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 27:308

Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Sadaqah ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: I heard my grandfather, Rabah ibn al-Harith, mentioning that he witnessed al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba while he was in Kufa in the Great Mosque. They were as gathered as they could be, to the right and to the left, until a man from the people of Medina named Sa'id ibn Zayd ibn Nufayl came. Al-Mughira welcomed him and seated him at his feet on the couch. While he was in that state, a man from the people of Kufa named Qays ibn Alqama entered. He faced al-Mughira and began to curse, and he cursed. The Medinan said to him, "O Mughira ibn Shu'ba, who is this young man cursing?" He said, "He is cursing Ali ibn Abi Talib." He said to him twice, "O Mughira ibn Shu'ba, do I not hear the companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, being cursed in your presence, and you neither disapprove nor change it? For I bear witness to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with what my ears heard and what my heart retained—and I will not narrate a lie about him after he has gone, so that he might ask me about it when I meet him—that he said: 'Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Talha is in Paradise, al-Zubayr is in Paradise, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf is in Paradise, and Sa'd is in Paradise.' And a ninth person; if I wished to name him, I would name him." He said: The people of the mosque went out, adjuring him by Allah, "O companion of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who is the ninth?" He said, "You have adjured me by Allah, and Allah is Great: I am the ninth of the believers, and the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is the tenth." Then he followed it up by saying, "By Allah, the presence of one of them for a single day in the path of Allah with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is better than the deeds of any one of you, even if he were to live the lifespan of Noah."
