Hadith 27:388

Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, who said: When Uthman was killed, orators stood up in Iliya (Jerusalem). Then the last of them, a man from the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called Murrah ibn Ka’b, stood up and said: "Were it not for a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I would not have stood up. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned a tribulation—I think he said: 'And he brought it near'—then a man passed by, covered [with a garment]. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'This one and his companions will be upon the truth on that day.' So I went and took him by his shoulders and turned his face toward the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: 'This one?' He said: 'Yes.' And behold, it was Uthman."
