Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 27:39

Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, Sa’id ibn Abi ‘Aruba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: The believers will gather on the Day of Resurrection and say, "If only we sought intercession to our Lord." They will be inspired to do that, so that He may relieve us from this place of ours. So they will come to Adam and say to him, "O Adam, you are the father of mankind, and Allah created you with His hand, and breathed into you from His spirit, and taught you the names of everything. So intercede for us to our Lord, that He may relieve us from this place of ours." He will say, "I am not for that," and he will complain to them or mention his sin which he committed, and he will be shy before his Lord. "But go to Noah, for he is the first messenger sent to the people of the earth." So they will come to Noah, and he will say, "I am not for that," and he will mention his asking his Lord for that which he had no knowledge of, and he will be shy before his Lord. "But go to Ibrahim, the Friend of the Most Merciful." So they will come to him, and he will say, "I am not for that, but go to Musa, a servant whom Allah spoke to and gave the Torah." So they will come to him, and he will say, "I am not for that," and he will mention to them the killing of a soul without a soul, and he will be shy before his Lord because of that. "But go to ‘Isa, the servant of Allah and His messenger, and the Word of Allah and His spirit." So they will come to ‘Isa, and he will say, "I am not for that, and I am not for that, but go to Muhammad, a servant whom Allah has forgiven his past and future sins." So they will come to me. Al-Hasan said: He said, "So I will set off and walk between two rows of believers"—the speech of Al-Hasan was interrupted—"and I will ask permission from my Lord, and permission will be granted to me. When I see my Lord, I will fall prostrate, and He will leave me as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said, or He will say: 'Raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' So I will raise my head and praise Him with a praise He teaches me, then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, so I will enter them into Paradise." "Then I will return to Him a second time. When I see my Lord, I will fall prostrate, and He will leave me as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then He will say like His first saying: 'Speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' So I will raise my head and praise Him with a praise He teaches me, then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, so I will enter them into Paradise." "Then I will return to Him a third time. When I see my Lord, I will fall prostrate, and He will leave me as long as Allah wills to leave me. Then it will be said: 'Ask and you will be given, intercede and your intercession will be accepted.' So I will raise my head and praise Him with a praise He teaches me, then I will intercede, and He will set a limit for me, so I will enter them into Paradise." "Then I will return to Him a fourth time and say: 'O Lord, none remain except those whom the Quran has detained.'"
