Muhammad ibn Bishr al-‘Abdi narrated to us, he said: Isma‘il ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us, from Hakim ibn Jabir, he said: I heard ‘Abdullah say when ‘Uthman was given the pledge of allegiance: "We did not fall short in [seeking] the best of this [matter] above this."
