Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Yahya, who said: I heard Abdullah bin Amir saying: When the people became embroiled in criticizing Uthman, my father stood up and prayed during the night. He said: It was said to him, "Stand and ask Allah to protect you from the tribulation from which He protected His righteous servants." He said: So he stood and prayed, then he fell ill. He said: He was not seen going out until he died.
