Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid, from Abu Ishaq, from Hubayrah ibn Yarim, who said: I heard al-Hasan ibn Ali stand as a preacher, and he addressed the people, saying: "O people, yesterday a man departed from you whom the first ones did not surpass, and the last ones will not reach. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to send him on a mission and give him the banner; he would not return until Allah granted him victory. Gabriel was on his right, and Michael was on his left. He did not leave behind any gold or silver, except for seven hundred dirhams that remained from his stipend, with which he intended to buy a servant."
