Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 27:641

'Abd al-Rahim narrated to us, from Ghalib, from al-Sha'bi, from Masruq, who said: 'A'isha informed me, saying: "While the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was sitting in the house, a man on a horse entered the chamber upon us. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stood up to him and placed his hand on the mane of the horse, and began speaking to him." She said: "Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) returned. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who was this whom you were conversing with?' He said: 'Did you see anyone?' I said: 'Yes, I saw a man on a horse.' He said: 'Who did you liken him to?' I said: 'To Dihya al-Kalbi.' He said: 'That was Gabriel.' He said: 'You have seen something good.'" She said: "Then I remained for as long as Allah willed that I remain. Then Gabriel entered while the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was in the chamber. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'O 'A'isha!' I said: 'At your service and ready to obey, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'This is Gabriel, and he has commanded me to convey peace to you from him.' I said: 'Return to him from me peace, and the mercy of Allah, and His blessings. May Allah reward you, O visitor, with the best of what visitors are rewarded.'" She said: "And the revelation used to descend upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) while I and he were under one blanket."
