Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 27:645

Waki’ narrated to us, from Shu’bah, from al-Hakam, from Abu Wa’il, that ‘Ali sent ‘Ammar and al-Hasan to mobilize the people. A man stood up and spoke ill of ‘A’ishah. ‘Ammar said, "She is indeed the wife of our Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in this world and the Hereafter. But Allah has tested us with her, so that He may know whether we obey Him or obey her."
