Hadith 27:736

Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Sulayman ibn al-Mughira narrated to us, he said: Thabit al-Bunani narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Rabah, who said: We went as a delegation to Mu'awiya, and among us was Abu Hurayra, and that was in Ramadan. He said: "Shall I not inform you of a hadith from your own hadith, O assembly of the Ansar?" He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O assembly of the Ansar." They said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "You said: 'As for the man, a desire for his village and compassion for his clan has overtaken him.'" They said: "We did say that, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Then what would I be named? No, I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger. I have migrated to you; the life is your life, and the death is your death." He said: So they turned to him weeping and saying: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, we did not say what we said except out of attachment to Allah and His Messenger." He said: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger believe you and excuse you."
