Hadith 27:99

Sahl ibn Yusuf narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas, who said: It was asked, "Did the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, raise his hands?" He said, "Yes. The people complained to him one Friday and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the rain has ceased, the land has become barren, and the wealth has perished.' He said: So he raised his hands until I saw the whiteness of his armpits, and there was not a speck of cloud in the sky. We had not yet finished the prayer when a strong young man, whose house was near, became concerned about returning to his home. He said: It rained continuously upon us until the next Friday. He said: Then they said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the houses have collapsed and the travelers are stranded.' He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, smiled at the quick weariness of the son of Adam and said, 'O Allah, around us and not upon us.' He said: Then the sky cleared."
