Hadith 25:188
Waki’ narrated to us, he said: Al-A’mash narrated to us, he said: I heard Al-Sha’bi say in the mosque one time: "I heard a hadith, and there is no one left who heard it except me. I heard ‘Amr ibn Sharhabil say: ‘Abdullah said: "You, O company of Yemen, are among the most likely of people that a man should die and not leave behind an agnate (asaba), so let him place his wealth wherever he wishes." Al-A’mash said: So I said to Ibrahim: "Al-Sha’bi said such and such." Ibrahim said: Hammam ibn al-Harith narrated to me, from ‘Amr ibn Sharhabil, from ‘Abdullah, the like of it.
حدثنا وكيع قال ثنا الأعمش قال سمعت الشعبي يقول في المسجد مرة سمعت حديثا ما بقي أحد سمعه غيري سمعت عمرو بن شرحبيل يقول قال عبد الله إنكم معشر اليمن من أجدر قوم أن يموت الرجل ولا يدع عصبة فليضع ماله حيث شاء قال الأعمش فقلت لإبراهيم إن الشعبي قال كذا وكذا قال إبراهيم حدثني همام بن الحارث عن عمرو بن شرحبيل عن عبد الله مثله
