Hadith 25:267
Jarir narrated to us, from Mughira, from Ibrahim, regarding a man who appointed his *mukātab* (a slave with a contract of manumission) as his executor. The *mukātab* said, "I have spent [the money for] my *mukātaba* (contract) on the dependents of my master." He said: He is to be believed, and that is permissible. There is no harm in a man appointing his slave as his executor. But if the slave says, "I have contracted my own manumission" or "I have sold myself," that is not permissible.
